We are hiring! Two of our wonderful team-members are moving on to different careers, so we are looking for great candidates for the following positions:

 

1. Cut Flower Grower:

 

Job Description:


Daily tasks include prepping flower beds, planting, weeding, watering, harvesting, processing flowers, and assembling bouquets for market. Ideal candidates will take a critical interest in achieving the farm’s goals in a conscientious and efficient manner, and cultivate a personal knowledge of flower crops, soil science, pest management and other farming techniques.

 

Minimum qualifications:

  • At least one full season of farm work or equivalent fast-paced, physically demanding work environment.

  • Excellent references from all previous employers.

  • Reliable transportation to and from the farm.

  • The ability to lift 30+ lbs. while walking over uneven ground, stoop, kneel, cut, dig, push and pull heavy loads, and the ability to work in all weather conditions, including wet, cold and extreme heat.

  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures and remember detailed directions.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and also collaborate with a team.

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Prior experience on a cut flower farm

  • Prior experience as a farm manager

  • Education in a related field

 

Schedule:

The full season runs from May-November. During the busiest months (June-October), we work mornings, 20 hours/week. We work fewer and more flexible hours in April, May, and November)

 

Hourly Rate: $16-20/hour, commensurate with experience.

 

2. Floral Designer:

 

Responsibilities:


Create high-end floral arrangements for weddings, events, as well as weekly and daily customers. Candidates should have a keen eye for color, design, creative problem-solving, and the ability to work quickly and efficiently while maintaining careful attention to detail and aesthetics.

 

Minimum qualifications:

  • At least one full season of floral design or the equivalent of fast-paced work, such as in a busy restaurant, retail, design, or a manufacturing setting

  • Reliable transportation to and from the farm

  • Ability to engage in physically active work that includes lifting heavy objects (30+lbs.) while walking over uneven ground

  • Desire to learn and the ability to remember plant names and post-harvest handling requirements of each variety

  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures and remember detailed directions

  • Strong communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and also collaborate with a team

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a floral shop or as a floral designer, preferably with a focus on weddings and events

  • A strong portfolio showcasing previous floral designs and arrangements

 

Schedule:

Mondays, Thursdays and some Saturdays from June-October; about 12-20 hours a week, varying with the wedding and event schedule. Regardless of events, Mondays and Thursdays are required to arrange weekly bouquets and custom arrangements.

 

Hourly Rate: commensurate with experience.

 

3. Combined Role:

For the right person, there is potential to combine both roles into a part-time or full-time position.

 

Hourly Rate: Commensurate with experience.
